| Bio of the Artist |
Cult of the Blues are husband and wife Angus and Tui Gillies. Angus writes and plays the music and they both sing. Tui is a fulltime artist. Angus has been a newspaper and TV journalist for the past 22 years. Angus has also had a novella, The Lizard Song, published as well as sports biographies on Justin Marshall (All Black), Matthew Ridge (rugby league star) and Adam Parore (cricketer). He is in the process of having published a three-volume non-fiction work, Ngati Dread, about a group of self-styled Maori Rastafarians who terrorised a town near his home city in the late 1980s (the prologue of this book is included as a previous blog on the webpage www.myspace.com/angusgillies). Volume one Footsteps of Fire is available now through trademe.co.nz.
Angus has a 13-year-old son, Rogie, and he and Tui have just had baby boy, Pele. |
