Bio of the Artist
Coraleena (Carol) Ellis is a reggae/R & B singer/songwriter who was born in the UK to Jamaican parents and raised in the United States of America. In 2002 Coraleena realized that she was a distant relative of the great Reggae Artist Alton Ellis who bore an uncanny resemblance to her father. She always wondered where she got her music abilities. She comes from a large and musical family is proud to be part of such a dynasty.

In 2005, after years in the United States, Coraleena returned to the UK and after going to a studio with friends, she was notice by a local promoter who happened to hear her version of Rose Royce ‘Wishing on a Star’ then was asked to perform at the first Asian Mela. The following day, her photo appears in the local paper giving notice of her incredible sound. Other shows followed that year including the local Riverside Festival. She went on to work with a charity for mental disabilities, The Lost Artists, and was asked to feature on their album ‘Forgotten Artists’. She sang backup for a local band named Moonbuggy and later released her debut EP, ‘Never Too Late’ which is a compilation of songs she wrote that year.

Coraleena is the producer of International Reggae Vol 11 which is a charity CD for the Rebecca Pike Foundation for sick children in Jamaica, W.I. and her debut reggae album “Let Me Be Free” was released in October, 2009. That year, she was one of 40 artists out of 10,000 nominated for Best New Upcoming Artist in the British Music Week in London, England. Coraleena again was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Reggae Album for her co/production of the charity CD “Reggae International”.

Currently working on her newest project, Coraleena has released a single which she believes represents the new soulful sound she’s become famous for called “The Question”. The CD will hopefully be released by Christmas 2011. “There are many times when we are at a loss and don’t know what to do. It just makes sense”, states Coraleena Ellis. The theme of this song is to be strong, stay strong knowing that you are loved and needed - the validation that all of us desire in life. This song has an incredible sultry reggae rhythm to it. It is smooth and with such a hot, hot beat to it. Let’s not leave out those vocals along with the harmonies that make your soul melt. She has an intense and dramatic delivery to the musical arrangements that have not been matched in the music industry. She is soulful, sultry, powerful, sensitive, dramatic and intense – all rolled up into one dynamic performer. This is the new sound of Coraleena.

Coraleena Ellis has evolved in her music and you hear the direction in which she took just by listening to her music from her album “Let Me Be Free” to her more current music which has more of a soulful feel to it. Her songs are soft, smooth, and sultry. All you want to do is sit back and enjoy such incredible music. Reggae has never sounded better, thanks to Coraleena Ellis.

Coraleena along with her music is in constant state of growth. The more she experiences, the more she understand and learns and giving her audiences the best, that specialty sound that is her own.

Once the new CD is complete, Coraleena will work on possibly touring to promote it. Until then, lay back and enjoy her music past and present.
