About Climber

Climber was started in 1998 as a good way to make a lot of beautiful, noise. Two loud guitars, haunting female vocals, lots of effects, even louder drumming. amplify, resonate, distort, delay, Climber was started in 1998 as a good way to make a lot of beautiful, noise. Joey Renza had a whole mess of effects pedals and a loud amp that was feeling neglected. He got together with Julianne Butler and drummer Jason Wiggins and the three started to compose some noisy rock songs in the cramped confines of Jason's bedroom. They soon recruited Heather Dallape to sing and add even more guitar noise texture to the already deafening sound. They named their project Climber after Jason's son's dead pet hamster, killed by Jazz the dog.

The band quickly became one of the most compelling bands in Saint Louis, crafting jerky, punk rock songs full of weirdo guitar lines, haunting female harmonies and surf rhythms. Their live shows, which were often teetering on barely contained chaos, soon garnered a healthy following.

Theodore Moll eventually replaced Jason on drums and the band recorded their first self-released album "memento mori" at the legendary Atlas Studios in Chicago. A heavy amount of touring followed and the band was soon signed to Learning Curve Records. With a new batch of songs and access to recording gear, Theodore and Joey focused on making the next alb
