Foolish man.Overall, I liked this song. I feel it needs a few more instruments, ie: Harmonica, drums, violin/fiddle. Just a few suggestions. I also feel it needs added in the Blues category. It gives the listener a sad, melancholy feeling. Nice job. Keep writing.
Foolish Man ReviewFoolish man has an interesting chord progression set up. It clearly establishes and portrays a place of passion in the artist. However, it has a lot of room for development. I can hear live orchestrations with shaker percussion and tight harmonies in a better production. Lots of potential. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this piece. Keep it up Chaser!
foolish manYou've got a good voice, you play the guitar fairly well on this song. As far as the song being commercial at this point, I think you may need a more fuller sound. It's a hard road to pave, this songwriting business. The lyrics are good, my opinion. Good luck with this song...
I am sorry for your lossI can definitely hear the pain in your music--obviously a result of your sisters tragic death. I encourage you to continue with your music. Music is magical. It can span distances and help bridge separations while healing wounds and heartache. Perhaps somebody will hear this song and realize they are not the only one out there to feel sadness. It is an exhilarating feeling have the epiphany that you are not alone in your pain and loss. I pray that though the days and months and years to come, God will both help ease the vacancy you are feeling from your loss and allow your music to reach others in need.
Sweet ChordsChaser certainly knows his way around the guitar choosing some very sweet chord sounds that form the foundation to this song. The song itself is perfectly melancholy with a sweet melody & hook. Very pleasant.
Nice arrangementLike the song, tempio lyrics! If this recording had some more support on the melody with some more instrumentation it would be a great song. Possibly add some keyboards and perhaps a solo by a flute would really make this a super song. G8 lyrics Chaser!
back up singerI hear a female vocalist behind you in this song. It would strengthen your vocals. ONLY on the high parts other than that piano would add a ton as well with some bass and light drums on second measure continuing through the rest of the song. Enjoyed it friend.
heart feltI had reviewed your song and I have to say I really liked it It has meaning and it sounds it was truly from the heart overall great song thanks Allen
Great chords, could be a little more intimateRecording acoustic performances is something that is notoriously difficult to get right. The key thing with songs such as this is creating that 'dimly lit cafe' atmosphere of a live evening gig, something which makes the listener feel that you are right there with them. Having said that, you are afforded certain advantages by doing this in the studio, such as being able to embellish the texture of a song which (otherwise) really would just be you and an acoustic guitar. I'm not saying you should add percussion or anything like that, however very modest guitar licks which substitutes the use of sustained strings is often used in the gaps between vocals or where the rhythm guitar is in danger of loosing 'lift'. If you listen to Lindsay Buckinghams' fade in/out guitar licks during the recording of 'Dreams' that might give you a better idea as to what I had in mind there. Alternatively (to back track slightly) you could include a Cello as a means of sustaining momentum, instead of the aforementioned guitar licks. Kings of Convenience (an awesome acoustic duo) use Cello regularly to great effect. The chord progression is awesome, I'm figuring some kind of D tuning there which really compensates for the lack of bass inherent to a purely acoustic track, and the chords are really jazzy and 'big'. Watch your string buzz on some of those chords however, I sense perhaps the action is quite high so maybe it was difficult to get the fingering down, this may have been the cause of the (very minimal) problem. Vocals great, purposefully fatigued in it's delivery creating a similar vibe vain to the more down tempo tracks of Ryan Adams. Definitely my favorite of yours so far :-)
I likeVery soothing.
Great feelThis song has an awesome feel man. Really solid and ominous. I feel like a few more components could really bring out that darker side....(i.e. fiddle, organ, maybe some steel guitar)
Sweet Ballad of Love Lost by ChaserA very tender ballad told in the 3rd person about being lost after losing a special woman, the love of his life. Delivered with passion, this emotionally charged song is performed with just the fine vocals and acoustic guitar of "Chaser". Definitely an up and coming favorite. 55 Stars and two thumbs up! ~LarninCurve~
Cool eclectic tuneThis is a good tune. I think you will pull a lot of interest by adding some more instruments to the song. Even if it is something simple. Even if it is considered folk, that still means you can add more to it so that it has an even more unique sound to it. Your guitar riff is good, and it sounds pretty well in time. I look forward to hearing more songs from you. I think the recording is good and that you sound professional with this audio.
Nice workFoolish Man is a good tune. I too have written songs that "just come to me" so I have a lot of respect for the end product as these are often the most meaningful and powerful songs to come from a songwriter. That is, there's no "over-thinking" involved or any attempt to commercialize into a mainstream structure or format. I see this song as a respectable and solid filler song on an album that engages the listener and allows them to take a glimpse into the soul of the artist.
The great feeling of american countryI really like this record. Just to close my eyes and smell the campfire, the true feeling of american country. People, listen to this song, you won't regret it :)
