This is where the spirits of these two artists magically collided-- straight out of the Gee'Rage . Whether it be a live performance or just another studio session, the chemistry between the two is explosive and the end result is always mind-blowing, eye-opening, and soul-touching. They say that hip-hop music is a true to life artform and as Downn's flow puts it, see we tell it from the heart, and it hits you in your soul - it's obvious where BV draws its inspiration from. Building on the foundation that was laid by their grandparents and parents, Kartoon and Baby Downn were taught to always put the Lord first and there will be nothing that they could not accomplish. Both MC's come from strong and loving families that instilled in them pride for their homeland, Samoa, and for their hometown community.
Armed with their fierce determination to make their mark in the Hip-Hop world, Brownzville identifies and credits a melting-pot of singular individuals who have stimulated their musical appetites--among them are Bob Marley, Smokey Robinson, Earth Wind and Fire, Bread, NWA, DJ Quik, Frankie Beverly, Maze, Chicago, Tupac, Notorious BIG and of course their Polynesian island music. Brownzville's music is definitely not average. They can and will flip the script on ya. When BV gets their creative juices flowing, it's an open assault on all your musical inclinations, whether it be Reggae, R&B, Gangsta Rap or Funk. Downn and Toon wrote and produced a majority of the material for their debut album. These artists are now moving into this diverse rap game with an explosion of talent. They're confident that the world needs what they have to offer.
What started as a Polynesian enthused fan base quickly crossed over and grew in numbers with other ethnic groups. BV's fan base began in their own backyard of Southern Cali and stretches through parts of Oakland, San Francisco, Washington, San Diego, Utah Hawaii, Samoa, New Zealand and several parts of the East Coast. Brownzville sends a message of love, peace and unity. They have performed at many charity events and have shared the stage and recorded with various artists such as Fiji--one of Hawaii's top R&B artists, Boo Yah Tribe, Pacific Soul and Jamoa Jam (both from New Zealand). Along with their single Breezin and a 13 song album Bust Yo Eye , the unsigned group is currently recording their second album appropriately titled 2nd Time Around , which they plan on promoting with mini tours, shows, and by way of Internet.
Brownzville has independently sold and distributed their music through discovered resources but are always looking to broaden their love of music. Although some time has past since their last album, BV has continued to produce and collaborate with other artists.
