| Bio of the Artist |
About the Artist:
Best known for his powerful chord progressions and melodic blues based guitar stylings, Long Island native Billy Galen has been making music for over 30 years now. It started in 1975 at age 7 when he borrowed his best friend’s older brothers guitar and learned Stairway to Heaven. After that, he was hooked.
Joining the Navy after High School, Billy continued to play throughout his navy career. All of the time at sea made a great place (between world crisis, fire drills, and desert storm) to hone his skills. With a gig in every port, Billy never left home without his guitar and has played around the world with some of the finest musicians on the planet. Over 20 years, several bands, thousands of hours in the studio and now a retired Navy Chief; Guitar Loft Records in Atlantic Beach, FL is Billy’s new home for producing years of ideas and passion for the instrument and the art of studio production.
Billy also played lead guitar for Jacksonville’s Led Zeppelin Tribute Band CODA, which paid homage to his idol Jimmy Page and kept the chops up for his latest studio release "Tempus Fugit".
If you are looking for a great evening of Live Classic Rock in the Jacksonville area, be sure to catch Billy and good friend Mike Powell (from Nimble Jim and the Ointment) as they perform as The Nimble galen Project.
Billy is the Stage Manager and Senior Sound Engineer for Jacksonville’s premier original live music venue The Pit. You can find him here on most nights mixing live sound for the best local and out of town original acts around.
About the music:
All new music is written, produced and arranged by Billy in the Guitar Loft Studio, and featuring world class musicians, this is an ongoing effort that test the bounds of progressive acoustic based hard rock.
As I evolve, the music will continue to grow into whatever it will become.
New and different, yet rooted in the classic influence of the British Invasion that captured our immagination in the 60s and 70s. |
