The tone of the bass is wicked annoying...but i love the drone it provides against the rest of the song. I'm reminded of Godflesh, or Big Black. And, not just bass-hating...listen to some of my stuff, you'll hear the same thing, but this particular tone, is offensive to my ear. Just saying. Nothing personal just an observation. Killer vocals...overall excellent production. Awesome, wicked catchy chorus, or bridge?...her voice is perfectly suited for what she provided here. Good stuff, easily radio-friendly. There's the bass again. In my opinion, you don't need to make it stand out, as the riff itself does that for the song. Then, when you move into the 4/4 chugging, then down a half step, it works well because it blends with the awesome wicked thick tone of the guitar. On that point, the guitar seems to have taken a back-seat to the structure of the song, but i get it. It's very easy to over-play. The loudest thing you can do is...nothing. CHEERS!

This song has a great rhythm line.The bass player is very good.They achieve a real dreamy gloomy vibe and then they acentuate this with gutteral guy singing followed by the female vocalist.It wasnt the greatest track ive heard but you get pulled in with this melodic song"

Song Reviewed: 'A Pain That I'm Used To (Bonus' By "Atonement Theory" The tones achieved in this song are priceless, among the highest being the bass guitar, the drums and vocals; in specific order. The filter to the verses' lead vocals add an extra thick atmosphere layer of tension and static. The beautiful chorus draws attention away from that temporary onset of deciphering throughout the verse, with an extra lengthy delay in the dub duplicates, which are nearly perfect, retaining that atmosphere of the flow being set apart by the vocal strengths' timings. Things i noticed was the female vocalist is amazing. She has an incredible voice.The bass sections were on point. Pretty good sound production over all. The guitar sound or tone was not quite where it should be on this track in places. The intro could have been edited down by about 50%, or the lead guitarist could have been just a little more creative there. Took a little long to get going. Most people will turn a song of if they are bored for more than 10 seconds on this site. After the intro things started sounding better. Wish I could have heard the lyrics of the whispering sections. The screamer vocalist was very good at what he does. Overall, still a work of art. Keep it up. I'm a guitarist and singer so I may be picking on you guys a little than I should.

The sound is so heavy and bewitching like that it's must be ! Very good ambiance. Very strange but successful mixture. This voice is so particular and scary. Good bass line, really good job and good composition !

Verry nice combination of black dark metal with heavy metal riffs and progresive elements the feminine voice add spice and colour to the melody appearing unexpected is really good quality modern metal that rocks. Good job guys

THE song starts hammering your ears with angry bass guitars and drums that make up the base of the groove. The guitars then come in just to give the mix roominess. When the rhythm begins to gain power the voice gets to let you know that you can still get deeper, denser and dusty. The bass sounds like a discounted bell, hammered by the drums that travel in a somewhat melancholic guitar riff. It is in the chorus when surprise assails you and come to the rescue the choirs of a female voice that transforms the bitter into sweet and rescues us from the depths to which the subject slowly submerges you. With catchy melodies and twists in the textures the composition is heard strong and compact uniform, without protagonist solos.

Even if i dont like brutal vocals we have here a singing girl who makes this song eatable.Another think is guitars and bass which are good sounding and are fat.Drums, snare are full of good sound.Strang, punchy and dynamic.Good idea and not bad production.

Time for another review and today we will be looking at Atonement Theory's "A Pain That I'm Used To". Wow, right out of the gate this rips, man I love this. This has such a Godflesh kind of feel. Vocally it's different and there is more melody injected into the guitar lines, but man that opening. This is so heavy and bad a$$, and what's this...clean vocals? Killer, that came right out of the blue and I wasn't expecting that at all, they were also really well done which is amazing. This also reminds me a little of Misery Loves Company, but heavier and with bigger balls! The recording is awesome too. All the instruments sound pristine and have great separation. The guitar tone is crushing, the drums thundering and the vocals really cut through the mix. I was starting to lose faith that there were killer indy acts left out there that were bringing the heat and cutting heads but I must say this track takes a bat to your head a leaves you in a bloody coma. It seems today that there won't be any critiquing done because everything about this track is top shelf. If you haven't already then you MUST check out this band (I think it's a one man band actually, but who cares when it's this good). This is how you do it, you bring the hurt and you come out of the gate swinging. Melodic, Heavy and Righteous...Atonement Theory, definitely a project to keep your eyes on, because they are going somewhere. Wow, just wow...Christopher Carrion XXX

the piece starts with a huge distorted guitar that fills the whole musical track making it very bad and metallic. then the bass drum comes into play and a decidedly bad male voice as opposed to a contrasting feminine. I'm not a lover of the genre but having listened to a lot of music of this kind I can tell you that if I had heard you on the radio I would have surely thought it could be a piece of a famous heavy metal band.

Pretty cool dark metal track with some nice industrial hooks. I like the guitar riff and bass good combo there. I would ad more of the male vocals to the mix since to match or be just below the female vocals. do you guys play out? I am in Chicago sometimes.

Overall good production on this heavy stoner sludge tune.. I'm not a fan of the high treble distorted bass track or the growling vocals. The clean bass track would have worked fine on it's own. I do like the mix on the drums. They sound powerful and help the production greatly. The change of vocals on the chorus is nice and helps the depth of the song. The guitars seem to work well as the low tuning creates that sludge sound. Overall a good Industrial stoner metal track.

an interesting song: slow and heavy, doomy, dark and psychedelic.All this is underpinned by a very professional production, very well mixed. Especially the distorted bass sound is outstanding. Atonement Theory have their own style, a genre mix between death metal und doom. It is hardly darker, but also contributes to the ultra-deep voice. And then the surprise with the feminine clear voice, which gives the whole an original touch. All in all a most successful work!

Great guitar crunch if you're in the mood for shredding. Simple guitar lines are welcome as it lays a nice path to return and pounce upon with great abandon and renewed shred vigor. The monster licks his chops and savors juicy big fat drum beats while th eguitar holds the groove back and then pounces once again. What a fun song. Even if it is about PAIN.

Hot, very hot, reminded me of the my last midnight spirit creep. I actually felt as if my soul was leaving my body for a brief moment. I imagined that bounce you feel when you hit the ceiling the your molecular floating ensconce. Guitars had an solid edge that kept the locomotive rhythm machine churning, with a solid bass and precision drumming. Vocal madness was right on creating the unforgettable ascendance of soul. A band not afraid to slow down the overall metal machine allowing the musical ambience push through. Bonus track? You betcha!

That's what I really like is these deep guitars howling from below with the rolling and grungy bass lines and a simple drum line switching from half time to standard and back to come again. Great production, reminds me sometimes of tool. Great female voice with really nice harmonics. This is without question one of the real deals here. Dig that sound of metal! Looking forward to hear more! Thumbs up!

A Pain That I'm Used To by Atonement Theory!!! This song is like if Type O Negative and Lacuna Coil and any guy that can do great Death Metal vocals had a love child. Its a good song. I love the performance and the quality of the music
