When I asked Colorado-based bands what local groups stand out, APATHY is mentioned more often than not. Little wonder after hearing this excellent Hellion Studios-produced full length CD. Don't let the beanie on vocalist Brian Ortiz's head fool you, this is outstanding modern heavy metal music with strong death metal influences. APATHY is different from other bands by virtue of their intriguing musicality. They break up the grind with thrashiness, feature trippy background vocals, and offer creative solos. Don't miss the hauntingly beautiful (and unexpected) final track. A band with this much talent, good material, and taste, deserves much more press.
