Dear Friend : It is 8 th of December and I'm writing this in my little cottage in Southern Finland. It is raining a really wet snow - yes, it is about zero degrees Celcius. It is quite little light per day in these times - if the Sun does not show herself to us ! Let's see if we get a winter some time here in Finland this year. - I am a doctor in medicinal science and I have again been going on with my ethnomedical studies in Finnish ethnomedicine. What I did, I collected a lot of field material in 1980's and 90's in Ostrobothnia, Finland. I met and interviewed hundreds of people, photographed and filmed them. They besides wrote me letters, and the central item for me was to hear about their ways to treat various ailments with their local home treatment methods. Now I am writing a rapport based on my materials. Ethnomedicine ? If it is unknown to you, you can ask your parents or grandparents if they know any old home methods to treat illnesses and ailments - before seeing a doctor or a nurse.
