About Alessandra Paonessa

Canadian Soprano Alessandra Paonessa is currently completing her Bachelors of Fine Arts, Honors in Music at York University. While at York, Miss. Paonessa performed in the production of Dido and Aene From Toronto, Canada Soprano Alessandra Paonessa is praised for her "lovely clear tone" and "chiaroscuro balance". Last year Alessandra was third place winner of the 2011 NATS Chapter Auditions Third Year Women's Voice as well as First in the Peel Music Festival Grade 9 provincial concert group resulting in both a performance at the Brampton Rose Theatre and at the provincials Ontario Music Festival Association competition where she received most honorable mention. That same year she received York Universities Sterling Beckwith Award, a scholarship given to students who demonstrate exceptional promise and ability in performance, superior musicianship and a breadth of cultural and academic interest.

In addition to music, Alessandra has a great passion for social justice and a desire to help the needy. In 2008, she organized and performed in the benefit concert,' Un Moto di Gioia', which helped to raise money for Hope Medical Clinic in the Middle East. Other performances include Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts theatre production of Seussical the musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat as well as a performance with the Bach Childrens
